Pinching some Whiteshield yeast..

June 29, 2010

I’ve got a summer ale planned for next week and as I’m sick of Safale S04 I thought I’d try capturing some yeast from a bottle conditioned ale. And why not from the classic IPA Worthington White Shield? Well, for a start it’s apparently not the primary strain but it will produce something different to what I’m used to, so chocs away!

It was quite a simple process really. I just followed the method here. I’ll hopefully step it up to 1 litre next week if all goes well.
